30 Day Photographer Challenge: Day Fourteen “Liz B Photography”
Liz B Photography located in Denver, Colorado has been chosen as our featured photograher for Day Fourteen of our 30 Day Photographer Challenge. As with a couple other photographers that we have featured during the 30 Day Challenge, Liz B Photography is a photographer that I have liked on my personal Facebook page because I so enjoy seeing all of the images she posts. One of the things I like best about Liz’s photography Facebook is that she posts a link to her website, so that you can view all the images from a session rather then only being able to see the few that she posts to the Facebook profile.
When looking at the images from Liz’s sessions, it becomes immediately clear that she has a personal connection with her clients. I’m sure it helps that she shares pieces of her life with her clients. From wishing her husband a happy birthday, to sharing information about a charity marathon she is training and fundraising for. Its apparent that Liz has “gotten the memo” that the most important part of business is building a meaningful relationship with your clients. You allow them to become a part of your life, and they will allow you to become a part of theirs.
Having such a personal connection with her clients also allows Liz to give her client’s the “personal touch”. When viewing her images, you can feel the emotion her subjects are feeling. This is only possible when the person being photographed feels comfortable enough to not hold back. When they allow all of their emotions to show, a great photographer can capture those emotions with her lens. There is a maternity session posted on Liz B Photography’s Facebook page from last September. The largest image is one of the parents to be- dad standing behind mom, holding her. They both have their eyes closed but you can FEEL the love between them for one another and for their unborn child. It is a truly magical image that I’m sure this couple will cherish forever.
During the time that I have worked with photographers, I have come to love each of their individual styles. I have also realized that a photographer is truly GREAT when there are images they’ve taken of people I’ve never met and places I’ve never been that I would happily hang in my own home or office. There are several images of Liz’s that I feel a real connection to. Only a photographer with tremendous passion for the art of photography and love for the people she is photographing can make a viewer feel so connected to an image that has nothing to do with them personally. Liz without a doubt has the passion and love needed.
It is also nice to discover that despite the talent that Liz already possesses, she is interested in not only sharing her knowledge with others, but learning from them as well. I have found that some photographers become very secretive about their methods and do not feel the need to learn methods different from their own. It is refreshing to see Liz’s support for other photographers as well as other small businesses, in addition to the workshop information she shares on her page. It is impossible to ever know everything or to be perfect. Those photographers, such as Liz, who accept this are the best at what they do because they are always learning and growing in their craft, which can only make them even better at what they do.
Whether Liz is photographing a family, a wedding or an event, it seems as if there is never a single detail missed. Beauty is in the details. After all, we take photographs to help us remember important times in our lives. The way that Liz photographs ensures that nothing about those times will ever be forgotten.
